Neem.fr is a website for nature enthusiasts actively supporting the development of Neem. Our goal is to facilitate information for the public and professionals to draw attention to the many possible applications of Neem.

Using

Neem oil is water soluble (water soluble) which makes its use very simple.

1 litre of Neem oil produces up to 50 litres of spray mixture.

  • For the vegetable treatment, dilute 2 caps of Neem oil (2cl) per liter of water. Put the mixture in a sprayer and spray the affected plants once a week or every 15 days.
  • For the treatment of green areas, prepare a 3% solution (3 caps of 1cl).
  • To remove slugs and snails, spray the preparation on dry soil Do not water immediately after.
  • For the treatment of animals against flies and insects, spray on the floor and walls of the barn, preferably twice a day, when the animal is outside, It is not recommended to leave food or drinks during the treatment, because they might take a bitter taste.
  • Repellent to flies, mosquitoes, ticks, prepare a solution with a dosage of 5 to 10 caps of Neem oil (5 to 10cl) with water, sweet almond oil or a fragrant lotion. Apply the mixture directly to the skin.
  • Ticks and fleas, use pure product. Apply the oil directly to the animal, leave for 1 hour, in the sun or outside and rinse with shampoo.
  • For the care of the hooves, mix 5 caps of Neem oil (5cl) to 1 liter of water, soak the hoof in the mixture. This treatment is applicable to cows, sheep, pigs, as well as on domestic animals.
  • Neem oil can be used pure for the treatment of sheep, cats and dogs for example. In this case, leave on for half an hour, then rinse with water.
  • Another possibility for care and parasites: make the animal take successive water baths, added 20 to 30 plugs of Neem oil (20cl to 30cl).

Tip

The solution obtained through the mixture is oily and adheres naturally to the plant leaving a slightly oily film on the surface of the plant.

The elements contained in Neem oil penetrate the leaves through tiny openings called stomata. These are usually found in greater numbers on the underside of the leaves. This should be taken into account when applying fertilizer by spraying the underside of the foliage. Foliar fertilizer is better absorbed if sprayed in mist, early in the morning or evening because the air is cooler and the ambient humidity is higher. This promotes the opening of the stomata.

Choose your Neem oil well

Extra virgin Neem oil of first cold pressing contains about a hundred compounds. The best known is Azadirachtin, whose residual content is an indicator of the active ingredient present in the product.

The average Azadirachtin content of an unmodified premium oil is 2000 ppm. Some oils are perfectly water soluble (water soluble) which makes their use easier.

Warning :

Many qualities of Neem oil exist on the market: a good oil is not automatically the one that will have the highest level of azadirachtin because it is always possible to increase it artificially. Similarly, an unpleasant smell should alert the consumer to the fact that his oil is certainly a mixture of oil of more or less good quality.

Some manufacturers do not hesitate to add to the mediocre oil of Rotenone for example… Pure neem oil has a strong but not disturbing smell…

Before buying any oil, we advise you to check with your dealer that it is guaranteed by the manufacturer “extra virgin neem oil of first cold pressing”. Also favor the purchase of oil from a trade with a human dimension, “fair”.

Comparison with the extract of Neem

Finally, note that Neem extract and virgin Neem oil are not comparable products. The extract is made in the laboratory and has no bio-stimulating virtue. In addition, it is necessary to use relatively heavy equipment to extract only one active molecule.

The high quality virgin Neem oil is manufactured almost by hand and imported directly from India where its exploitation is very positive for the development of the trade of this country.

About Neem

In Brazil, all fruit and vegetable producers, as well as agricultural product distributors, are familiar with Neem, a commonly used product since 2001, especially for animals and agriculture.

The Organic Alternative

Azadirachtin-A, naturally present in Neem, effectively fights against a large number of pests. Over the last 25 years, entomologists have isolated more than 400 different species…

Did You Know ?

At maturity, the Neem tree can produce up to 50kg of fruit, which is equivalent to 30kg of seeds; these seeds are the main source of insecticidal compounds, including azadirachtin. However, the quantity of azadirachtin in the seeds varies considerably depending on climatic conditions, soil conditions, and the tree’s genotype (Ermel 1986; Singh 1986).
